What’s the difference between yarn weight and needle size?

Yarn weight is how thick the yarn strand itself is. Needle size is the diameter of the needle you knit it with. The two are related — thicker yarn generally needs a thicker needle — but they’re not the same thing. Our yarn weight guide covers this in plain terms.

Do you only cover natural fibers?

Mostly, yes. Cotton, linen, silk, wool, and hemp get the most coverage here, since that’s what most of our guides and reviews focus on. We may occasionally cover a blend or semi-synthetic fiber (like bamboo viscose) when it’s genuinely relevant to a project.

Can you recommend patterns for beginners?
